Rudedog's back but off again this time to IW.
 
While I just got back from a buisness trip in Anaheim Calf, I'm leaving in the morning for a community event at Infinity Ward.

I should be getting a hands on preview of Call of Duty 4 both SP and MP. If there is no NDA or embargo on the event, I should be posting my findings over the next few days or before the weekend.

the last stand feature is where after you get killed, you can take out your pistol and try to take out the person that killed you (or anyone else that comes along)

OK, after 14 straight hours of sleep I'm back.

Here is a small report from the field, or shall we call it LAX HELL! Over the weekend I will be cleaning things up and posting more info

OK it's 3:44 in the am (my time not local time) and I'm stuck in LAX (THANKS UNITED YOU **** ***** *** ** ** ******* **** ******).... OK so I'm trying to get comfy (for my LAX camping expedition, again thanks UNITED) but I did find an electrical plug - thanks to an old Credit card used as a screw driver to pull the damn cover off the f***ing outlet........

OK, sorry about that guys, after staying up the night before (Die Hard 3 rocks guys!) with the IW crew and only on 4 hours sleep over the past 2.5 days I will make this quick before I get caught for vandalizing airport property

Anti Cheat = yes out of the box, but they can not confirm who is doing it ( I have faith in this one)
Ranking system details = in game but don't think BF2. You gain rank or perks by completing tasks like 3 kills in a row.
Some cool perks include, calling in carpet bombing (very cool - from small aircraft not B52 type bombing), calling in gun ship close air support (helo), getting temp overhead UMV support for you and your team (basic map with enemy locations)
In game VOIP= told yes but did not hear or see this in action
future map packs = lt them release the game first
Scale of MP map size = map we seen them play in person was big and friggin beautiful.


The IW guys demoed both the SP and MP aspects of the game, in person for us on the big screen. The MP map they showed off was unbelievable and looked awesome. I would say it's a good size map with no bottle necks. On a side note, the current set of released video's are from the console but do not do this game justice!

Remind you, this all from a pre alpha or a very close alpha build. They also showed off the AC130 gunship and how you get to offer some "death from above" lovin to the local bad guys. - thinks utube video last year of the AC130 over Iraq.

This is a quick overview of what to expect. If they released what we seen today, tomorrow, the game would still rock.

I'm a WWII guy at heart and really wanted to see CoD4 set in WWII. However after playing a bit of ETQW before heading out here, I'm very happy with what IW has done with CoD.

CoD style of game playing brought to modern combat, you have to see this to appreciate what they have done it's simply amazing. Not to mention some very cool bullet penetration of wood, brick, concrete and even body mass. We where all blown away!

I really hope to write up a formal overview but after I get home I'm going to sleep for a few days.....

One more thing I really need to point out. We spent a lot of quality time with Grant Collier the big cheese of IW. Grant, who was a very nice guy, who was honest and open with all of us. The first night out he let us "give it to him" for things that have happened in the past. He is a great sport and really listened to us, apologies for some things, offered explanations for other and seemed very sincere. He is also very passionate and proud about his game and it really shows. This game almost made me feel IW lic the Crysis engine. You have to see some of the very cool and impressive real time lighting and shadow effects. I really with they could have provided us with some screen shots to take with us.

After spending the last couple days with Grant and the rest of the IW gang. One thing is for sure, they are very passionate about what they are doing and it shows!

Big thanks to Rob (402) and Step 3 for the invite, I'm really glad I got a chance to see this first hand. With that said, there are a couple very small things that have me worried, nothing was a show stopper but none the less. I will be adding more after I move, security is looking at me funny.
