cool. and i dont think many people will be buying that new 80 gb version but i see how sony had to do it to make up for expenses and such.

i'll buy one once PS3 finally gets a game thats not an Xbox 360 port and is actually a decent game. Right now, there are like only 10 games for the system and 9 of them are pure shit or based on movies (thus pure shit).

edit: is that how you put the game in the system? wtf if it gets stuck? how are we supposed to get it out? i wish it was PSX style where you just open the top manually and plop the cd in.

360 is supposed to be announcing a price drop in the next couple days

$249 for core
349 for premium
399 for elite

i've heard that the 360 is somewhat faulty machinery compared to PS3, but don't own either so who knows.

Basically all PS3 needs to be competitive is games. Thats why they're losing... no more do they have PS-exclusive franchises like GTA, and games like Madden are now using the Xbox360 as the main console to port games from.

yeah sony makes all companies put their games on blu ray. i dont think the price cut will help sony too much. i read on 360 updates that komani isnt impressed with the price cut and isnt ruling out mgs4 for 360. i dont think ill buy a ps3....again till its under 400 and has more than 3 games i want to play. only game coming out for the ps3 only this year that i want is ratchet 5.

how much are the 20 GB versions? I bet we'll stat seeing some of those in video game replay stores.

Like Peter Moore said its more like more value for the same cash than an actual price drop seeing as the price point hasn't changed.

I still don't see ps3 flying off the shelves till an actual price drop does occur, and sony are gonna hold out on doing this as long as possible as theyre already in the hole as far as money is concerned.

Still dunno how seeing as the ps2 suposodly sold over 100 million units. oOo:

heres a little factoid not stated by Sony:

While the 60 GB PS2 is now $500, it contains 100% backwards compatibility with all PSX and PS2 games. So for example, I can go and play the best fighting game ever whenever I want to on my PS3, despite it coming out for PSX (Tekken 3 btw).

The 80 GB PS2 is $600, leading the consumer to believe all they did was give you 20 GB for $100 more (well thats a little overpriced). But what they didn't say is now they removed the backwards compatibilty for some games, making it only work with about 60% of all PSX and PS2 games.

So if you were to buy any PS3, I would go and by that 60 GB one, since the 80 GB basically removes features and gives you 20 GB for $100 more.
