Just a heads up if anyones thinking of upgrading or building a new system soon, theyre dropping price on all the 1066fsb cpu's which are being replaced with the newer 1333fsb varients. Some of the 1333fsb's are also reduced as theyre trying to get quad core across their line.

Quad 6600 2.4, have had it at 3ghz quad prime stable easily enough. Only problem is the haet it puts out, can hit 80c. Have it clocked down till a new hsf arrives on monday.

Well put it this way, amd demonstrated 16 cores benchmarking in a program, they were beat out by intels 8 core setup.

Amd's been getting smacked around for ages now.

16 cores? Meh, I'm talking about their quad core architecture. Intel quad core setup is pretty much two dual cores slapped together, versus AMDs cores being connected by a 2MB L3 Cache. It's difficult to say whether or not AMD will pull through with it, but I really hope it does.

Thats where penryn comes in which isn't just 2 dual cores on the one package. The performance gains are only expected to be around 5% over what the current quads are.

As for barcelona, thats only mean to be scaling to around 2ghz currently. Amd need to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
