Woohoo I got the job!

biggrin: rock:

I got accepted for some trainee project management stuff for a construction company. Hopefully I'll get to work on the London 2012 Olympics. the_finger:

I really, really didn't think I'd get this job. I put a lot of effort into researching the presentation I had to give to the director so I'm quite chuffed.

I have a degree in History, I can't do a damned thing with that, so since these fools are going to cross train me in surveying & project management I've sort of won the golden ticket. biggrin:

I remember sitting in my office at VISA, typing in ramdom numbers for some database, didn't know wtf I was doing nor what my work meant. I looked out the window & saw some guys working on a building & was quite jealous as they at least knew what they were doing. Hopefully now I'll have some job satisfaction.

My only complaint is that there may be a lack of ladies on site rolleyes: I'll make up for that by moving to London though beer:

HUZZAAA!! well done Fluffence! beer: ...what sort of presentation did you do?

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 08-03-2007 04:13 AM

It was mostly composed of the local slags in my area posing naked... But the official title was 'What implications will the London 2012 Olympics have on the construction industry?' There were two interviews, the first one was basic english & maths, I was a little worried as I completely suck at maths & it had been at least 5 years since I did my GCSE. Even though the questions were High School simple shyt like percentages etc I still totally suck at maths & must be a little dyslexic but I still managed to pass it all...

The second interview was the presentation & I basically tore the internets apart researching it. I found out that the actual site for many of the projects was contaminated nuclear waste land- go figure. oOo: I also compared the construction of Terminal 5 at Heathrow, which was successful to the pos construction project that was Wembley Stadium. In short the Olympics will increase the construction industry employment tenfold & for that we'll have to find a ridiculous amount of workers, skilled & unskilled...

There's also a large number of projects to be completed for the different venues & also the pressure to make it 'the greenest games ever'. In short we're fkd we should have given the honour to the frogs. rolleyes: Should be interesting re-building London though. Here's some pix:
