Nessun Dorma no more...

[quote:8376e]Legendary Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who brought opera to the masses, died on Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 71.

"The great tenor Luciano Pavarotti died today at 5 am (11 pm Wednesday EDT) at his home in Modena," his manager Terri Robson said in a statement. "The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life.

Although his health had been seriously failing for a year, the death of the rotund, black-bearded tenor known as "Big Luciano" saddened people ranging from stars, impresarios and critics of 'bel canto' to fans who could barely afford tickets.

"He was one of those rare artists who affected the lives of people across the globe in all walks of life," London's Royal Opera House at Covent Garden said in a statement.[/quote:8376e]

pic # 3 you'd be hard pressed to tell that was him, looked totally different without the weight. And it was almost 41 years ago.

All I could think of was the scene in 2001: A Space Travesty where Leslie Nielson gives that fan condoms. Sorry :(

RIP

Pancreatic cancer is the worst kind to have. I'm suprised he lived this long while battling it. My friend only lasted 3 months.

Tomorrow i'll have a drink to him and my buddy George.

Probably better than colon cancer - Imagine using a colostomy bag for the rest of your days - I cant imagine anything worse.
