Battlefield 3 rumours...
http://www.digitalbattle.com/2007/10...3-leaked-info/
A report on Digital Battle is claiming to bring the first details of the next game in Electronic Arts' and developer DICE's Battlefield series. According to the article--which cites an anonymous investor briefing that was sent in by a tipster--Battlefield 3 will apparently be returning to the modern setting of Battlefield 2, following the series' brief foray into the future in Battlefield 2142. One example of a map is titled "Baghdad Burning," with the only two playable factions consisting of NATO and the Middle Eastern Coalition. The extensive feature list notes the game will ship with only 8 maps, supporting up to 80 players total in online play. Online stat tracking and awards will be taken further with a new "Soldier" feature, which will allow for avatars that can be designed as in a massively multiplayer game, and outfitted with unlockable armor and other accessories. Game mechanics appear to be similar to past games, including ticket-based capture points, five playable classes (Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic, Support), 48 vehicles, and 34 weapons. Though only Windows Vista and OS X are listed as supported operating systems, it is hard to imagine Windows XP users will be left out of the dust. The game will supposedly use the "Frostbite DX" engine, apparently a version of the same engine used in the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company. In-game replay and recording features, popular in recent games such as Halo 3 and EA Black Box's skate., are also bullet-pointed. The report concludes with a teaser trailer and announcement set for January 2008, along with a tentative public beta scheduled for next summer. Given the questionable nature of this rumor--the low number of maps in particular stands out as an oddity--keep your eyes peeled for either a confirmation or denial from EA in the future. -------------- DICE has responded to the Battlefield 3 rumors with a general statement. Take a look: “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation. Currently announced titles from DICE are Battlefield Bad Company and Mirror’s Edge, you’ll hear from us officially as soon as we have anything further to announce. For any future announcements regarding Battlefield keep an eye on battlefield.com” A "no comment" style response means there could be something in it.......either way, thought I'd post it here nonetheless, as no-one checks the BF forum |
Considering bf2 initially was gonna have 128-player online jumping from 64-80 isn't much of an improvement.
Wonder if infantry battle will still turn into proneathons like last time. |
need to remake bf1942.

no more Battlefield games for me, untill they fucking stop with the expansion packs and releasing a different version months later. they fucking kill the community by splitting it up with these fucking things.
fuck i hate EA for that shit, BF2 was a good game too. |
jibber: Are you pissed at them for actually keeping the game alive with patches and expansions? oOo:

next to MOHAA, BF2 has been my fav online FPS. If a BF3 is in the works then im all over it. As far as most bang for your buck goes this game has kept me involved and interested for 2+ years. Im just now getting aorund to flying jets proficiently without getting shot down like a n00b..love this fucking game. as far as the expanisions go...they flat out sucked. The game is filled with griefers and smaktards though...not to mention hackers still lurking about...shithead admins under the age of 18 with rcon etc etc etc

Since when do expansions keep anything alive? They do nothing but segment the community with each expansion and "booosterpack" they bring out. Add to that the fact that b2 has a retarded method of patching, if you have a booster pack or 2 instaled along with the expansion you have to apply patches in a very specific order or the patch fails or servers refuse to let you connect. Booster packs should be integrated into patches at no cost, expansions can fuck off. |
Unlockable armor? What the hell?
|
Oh and YAAY for more stat tracking, just gives sad bastards from the last 2 games more incentive to glitch their way up the rankings in this game. E-PEEN FTW!!!!!
|
I agree with wintersforge. I really like BF2, it's a fantastic game. The only thing that I don't like are the Punkbuster random disconnects I get sometimes. I'm all for more stat tracking, I think stats are a good way to keep people interested.
