Commando/Fighting the Taleban
Commando / Fighting the Taleban
These documentaries have been shown in Blighty over the last few weeks. I've been a bit miffed that Her Majesties forces are leaving Iraq, but I'm pleased to hear that we're still kicking some arse in Afghanistan. In 1830 we sent in 16000 redcoats, one returned... Hopefully we'll do a bit better this time. Commando shows some Royal Marines from recruit training to deployment in Afghanistan & also includes their ridiculous training. 30 miles or something in 8 hours with full kit + rifle. I remember trying on some Royal Marine kit & thinking I could make one mile, but 30! & that's after a week of doing other stuff. I'm also suprised at the youth of the troop leaders, 23, that's my age! If anyone wants to see the full series it's available on youtube, I've included the last two below as I thought they were the best: Commando 7/1 http://uk.youtube.com/v/bw4FwMncrmQ 7/2 http://www.youtube.com/v/ptnQTuD1hXk 7/3 http://www.youtube.com/v/pp8oz50oOL8 8/1 http://www.youtube.com/v/SByDCgfeHCU 8/2 http://www.youtube.com/v/0WFTcfRquq4 part 8/3 http://www.youtube.com/v/2Sgy3a7zr7M Fighting the Taleban is about the Grenadier Guards in Helmand/Afghanistan. Those are the guys that stand outside Buckingham Palace with the redcoats & big black hats etc. Quite a bit of action in this, rofl @ Afghan Army guys smoking pot & going into battle! Fighting the Taleban part 1 http://www.youtube.com/v/ePg9BRWfXTk part 2 http://www.youtube.com/v/v_HCw006884 part 3 http://www.youtube.com/v/UtfbXb3eYvA part 4 http://www.youtube.com/v/0yETl7qxIhQ part 5 http://www.youtube.com/v/wpdWD7GktE8 part 6 http://www.youtube.com/v/JqtctAju2Es If anyone has any documentaries of yanks/anzacs/canucks etc I'd be interested in seeing them! :) |
