Best (vehicle based) series of the 80's?

What and why, was probably more from the 80's but these stick out for various reasons.

Bluethunder had a movie with Roy Scheider in it but the tv series was pretty short lived (11 episodes).

Knight rider is the longest of the lot with 90 episodes.

Airwolf probably had one of the better main casts, but due to Jan Michael Vincents drink habits the cast got shit canned and totally replaced for season 4 which died badly (79 episodes).

Then we had Street Hawk, which probably had to make use of a bike as most of the other main vehicles were already taken. And i doubt a show about a cop in a black "super" steam roller would have sucked in much of an audience. That lasted 13 episodes.

I grew up watching most of this and Airwolf is the one that always sticks out in my mind, the helicopter they used (modified bell 222) with its black and pearl grey paint job looked really good on screen, sound effects of the airwolf howl also worked really well on screen. The opening music is also that seemed to catch your attention, and some of the reworks of it worked really well like in the vid below from the pilot episode "shadow of the hawke".

And this is a showdown vid (fan made) of the 80's choppers, airwolf vs blue thunder

Airwolf ftw!

oooo I dunno like, Knight Rider was a bit of a legendary show for me, especially due to the quality theme tune. Not keen on the look of the new car to be used in the upcoming film tho!
