crytek say "no more pc exclusives"

Quote:

We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis,” he said. “We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a [situation] that is not desirable.”

He added: “I believe that’s the core problem of PC gaming: piracy… PC gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive any more.”

Yeah because clearly every big name 360 game hasn't been available for dload before it hit store shelves. Its amazing he rants on about pc piracy and then says dick about console piracy which is easily getting as bad as pc piracy. At least with pc a decent game will have a multiplayer component that will be hard to play without a legit copy, you get a few cracked servers and thats it. With consoles im near sure a pirated game can be played online with no trouble.

Crysis sold over a million copies, probably would have sold much more if they hadn't went so overboard with the requirements needed to run the game.

no way is console piracy in the form of current generation anywhere near the size of pc piracy.

If anything pc piracy is more rampant for single player aspects, consoles seem to let all facets of the game be played when pirated. Its possible to get into a regular live game for example, for pc usually its cracked servers only and they dwindle out pretty quick.

In that respect console piracy is as bad, if not worse than pc piracy. Multi usually is the lifes blood of any game so usually people will buy the games for that.

isn't it easy to track pirated games tho when you go online?

No idea, i know MS can ban consoles from playing online but instances of that are pretty rare. Its more they can track the modded xbox than the actual game i think.

what about PC games, since of the box code and everything

Gervis: PC gamers tend to be more PC savvy than your average console user. Therefore, piracy among PC users is going to be more rampant.

If that were true people wouldn't be trying to dload newly released games off limewire and getting hammered with viruses. Knowing they can get the games is one thing, where to get them fast is another. Overall the people in the know is pretty small compared to people that are willing to dload anything that says its a game and hope they somehow get lucky.

You're also missing the fact that with consoles theres no incentive to buy the retail product, if you have access to single and multi the only thing the retail version is gonna get you is a box. As ive said with pc games these days playing online with a warez version works for a few days then all the cracked servers start to disappear. Not that those servers were much good in the first place. So if you want to play multi without being disconnected every few mins on good servers the retail version is the only way to go really.

The servers just kick duplicate keys, it can happen to a legit game ower but if someone has your key the game devs provide a new one when you show proof of purchase.

until you show some figures that console piracy is larger than pc piracy then you are wrong and just bitter that all the money you spent on your pc to play cryteks 1 pc exclusive game wasnt worth it.

Who said it was "larger than pc piracy"? I said its probably as bad due to the fact there is no incentive to buy a retail console game if everything available from the retail version is available from a dloaded copy.

Also my pc was built to play as many games as i want to play, not one specific game. And bitter? Yeah playing everything i want at 1900x1200 with smooth non jagged graphics and an amazing framerate with no slowdowns. Poor me, im so bitter. :D
