Just picked up the new PNY Verto GeForce4 Ti4600
I wanted to get the Visiontec version but BestBuy sold out all their cards(4) within 1 hour of opening today. I then went over to CompUSA which only carried the PNY. I bought the PNY, as I have never had any problems with any other product from them. The installation went without a hitch. Gerard pointed out that there may be a problem with the hardware installation. Because of the size of the new GeForce card and other components on the motherboard. I did not find this a problem and as you can see from my picture below, eveything fits fine. Here you can see the difference in size between the two cards. http://members.cox.net/jlandi/2cards.jpg From this picture you can see the new card installed into my case http://members.cox.net/jlandi/cardinstalled.jpg I'm using a ASUS P4T-E motherboard with the Intel 850 chipset. I did a complete uninstall, of the old drivers. Then rebooted with the new card and installed the same drivers (V27.20) Upon rebooting I was prompted by the wizard to install the drivers. I did a manual install. pointing the wizard to my folder on my desktop. With the drivers installed, I rebooted the computer one more time. Upon restart I started MOH:AA. I double checked all my settings to see if they had changed. Below are my settings and specs for MOH MOH:AA v1.1 Blood Mod 1024x768 32bit Texture detail High Texture color depth 32bit Texture filter Trilliner Wall decals checked weather effects checked Texture compression checked View Model Full Shadows Complex (don't usually run this on at all) Terrain detail Higher Model Detail Higher effects Higher Curve Detail Medium all checked off console static decals real dynamic lighting full entity lighting volumetric smoke weapons bar crosshair MOH:AA did not give me any problems with the new card and all my settings above stayed the same ( from GeForce3 64 meg) I went to the console and typed "maplist". I selected map m3|1a.bsp ( Omaha Beach ) I seen an improvement of about 7-11 FPS. GeForce3 64meg 29 to 61 GeForce4 Ti4600 36 to 72 If I disable shadows( I usually do ) GeForce3 64meg 36 -70 GeForce4 Ti4600 42 - 87 System specs: My current desktop is 1280x1024 32bit @75hz Running WindowsXP Pro with all the latest updates PC Intel P4 2Gz 478pin ASUS P4T-E board with 850 chipset 1 Gig Rambus ram I did not buy this card just for MOH:AA. I do graphics with Photoshop 6 and video with Premiere 6. Personally I needed to upgrade my old Geforce2 in my video box. I am putting my GeForce3 in the video box and the new GeForce4 in my main box. I just downloaded the latest detonator drivers V27.70 and will see if this increases my FPS in MOH:AA. On a side note. when dragging a large box around my screen I get ~34% CPU usage. Now with the new card. I see under 9% For the average gamer. I would not upgrade until more games take full advantage of the hardware for this card. This should drive the prices down for a ATI 8500 or GeForce3. |
.......i have a pentium computer
|
How much that cost you?

ur lucky. I got a crappy card
|
Doesn't that just make you mad??? Spent $400 on a graphics card to see little improvement??
I run an Athlon 1800+ with the G3 Ti 200 card, and I have no plans to get the G4 right now. Why? Because there isn't a game on the planet that needs 128MB ram right now, anyone who upgrades from a G3 or R8500 is paying a huge price for major overkill... I get 35-90 FPS in MOH with everything maxxed, so I have every reason to wait... When they make games that actually push my system to the limit I'll consider upgrading. |
That is sick. I would have a GeForce 4. However, that is, strangely, about what I'm running at now. And my specs are pretty lowly compared to yours. My specs as follows:
1.2 AMD Athlon GeForce2 GTS 32mb DDR 1024 MB RAM 60 Gig 7200 RPM HD etc etc etc All my settings are at max, too. I find this very very odd. You have, in my opinion, a super computer. What a beast man, like the old Chargers... Damn. They're going to have to get a benchmark for MOHAA so we can really see the diff... AC |
That is allot!

rudedog youre not going to see an improvemnt at that low a resolution. bump it up to 1280x1024 or even go to 1600x1200. youll see a big improvment at higher resolutions.

The Geforce 2 Ti 64Mb cards will be sufficient for the next year or so until developers start taking full advantage of the Geforce 3 and 4 technology available. Until then, especially with current crop of games coming out (using the Quake 3 engine, SoF 2 and Jedi Knight 2) all that is really needed is a Geforce 2. Save your cash and/or upgrade your CPU, RAM, Mobo.

[/quote:cea98] That was uncalled for. And really, your a "monkey" yourself, your literacy skills are that of a baboon. Yes it runs rather sluggish, and may not have been optimised completely for the broad range of computers out there, but they (2015) have done a fantastic job otherwise. ------------------ http://imagep.webphotos.iwon.com//10...M0.1049768.jpg Any problems ?
