I posted this in the general forum and got a great response, so I want the developers to see this! so here it is again;

I have watched the mohaa movie several times now and the only critisism I would like to make (constructive critisism) is that the animated deaths of the soldiers are pretty poor in places. If you watch the 2nd and 3rd scenes(approx),1st when your buddies get blown up and then 2nd when your pal gets shot in the street next to you; it looks like time speeds up x2. They fall REALLY quickly and then lie motionless. Even if the guy has just got one straight to the head it would take your body longer to collapse! Will they be sorting this problem out? Hope so cause everything else is GREAT! cheers, motto

Hey Motto, i just thought that i would also include my reply to your message that you originally posted on the general board.

Maybe we will get some replys. http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/wink.gif

Here goes:

I agree, most of the death animations are poorly done from what i've seen of Allied Assault.
I hope that the final game will have much better animation.
But i'm worried that it will not.
Have you seen the pre-rendered movie...sure you did.
Look at the animation in that movie, it's also very poorly done. The soldiers move like toy soldiers instead of real humans.
Because it's a quicktime file you can also watch it frame by frame. It's very clear then how poorly most of the animation is.
Especially look at that scene where two soldiers are trying to take out a German Machine Gun nest. One of the American soldiers just stands there like a robot in front of the Machine Gunner, takes a few shots and then dies very unconvincingly.

Just look at a game like 'Metal Gear Solid 2', this looks and sounds fantastic, and it's all realtime...well what do you expect from a Japanese game! http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif
The game 'Operation Flashpoint' (a European game BTW) has also much better death animations then 'Allied Assault' at this moment.
For some more good death animations, look at Delta Force 2. I especially like the one when your soldier is hit by a nearby exploding grenade and he's deperately trying to put out the fire on his smoking clothes before he dies. What about the one when your soldier is hit and he falls on the ground, crawling in an final attempt to get some help...great stuff.
The death screams in Delta Force 2 are also very good, BTW http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif

I really think Allied Assault is going to be a good game, but the animation needs allot of work!
Let's hope 2015 will improve it in the final release.

I also noticed in the video of ingame footage on the beach landing that there was a dead guy who's body had sunkin into the sand, is this meant to be, or is it something thats being or has been fixed ? Also do the bodies stay put and not fade away like some other games ??

I don't think we can really judge anything on this game yet. Its a long way from being completely finished and I also read in a review (preview) that the main aim in this game is fun gameplay which means realism comes in a close second. There probably won't be any blood either....

BallisticWookie 05-25-2001 05:43 AM

Yeah true, it is a bit away from completion, but hopefully not too long http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif I'd hope the main aim of this game isnt just fun gameplay. I'd be hoping for something a little more involved than that. I'm hoping for a realistic depiction of part of our History. Sure it can be fun, and kickin some Nazi butt is as fun as it gets, but I hope that the realistic side of combat is shown to a certain extent.

Just FYI... 2015 did not make the cinematic pre-rendered trailor. We provided our in-game art assets for the player skins, but EA did the rendering and animation.

Thanks for the reply's everyone. Its great to see someone that's actually involved in the production of the game writing in to the forum, Cheers Coriolis. I have to say I have been put off EA over the last couple of years they don't seem to take much care of their customers. I was a member of the rugby 2000 (which became 2001) forum. EA never posted replys, instead they used a moderator who didn't really know much! They never took suggestions on board either, as a result they ended up with a pretty poor game.
Finally, does anyone know how to become a beta tester - for any game?
Thanks again, Motto....

EA is handling testing work for the game. Anyone interested in such a job would likely have to apply directly through their usual QA and Human Resources hiring channels. :)
