The only games I've played online are Red Alert 2 and Warcraft 2. If I don't have dsl will I slow down the game?
|
Im not sure, it kinda depends on the game. The worst it can get is about 10 seconds behind (ie 10 seconds worth of freeze time) but thats if your comp really sucks. I think 56k should be good enough

yea i think 56k will slow it down maybe a litle bit, un less if everyone else in the game has like cable or dsl etc..

Heh, I use a 56k and it sucks.

Doesnt it really depend on good netcode and fast server ?? I've been playing counterstrike lately and I've been getting pings around 150 - 190. And I've got 56k. Sure it lags sometimes but I think that has something to do with the actual server. If cable was cheaper I'd get it in a second though.

I sure hope cable decreases in price sometime within the next 2 years.

I live waaaaaaay out in the country and Im lucky to get Cable... hopefully DSL will come out here soon... By then I will be moved out.
To answer your question, 56K is not good for online gaming if you are playing a FPS. But other games like strategy and role playing games are ok with 56k. ------------------ http://www.3rdInfantry.homestead.com/files/bladesig.jpg |
