Windows XP...? Will it screw up my games?

Well, yet another reformat had to be done due to the DSL f***ing up again. My dad is pissed now. He went to get Windows XP, will it mess with my games? I've heard something about Half-Life not working...that would totally suck. Any facts anyone can give me? If so thanks. Also, big w00t to Badscript for getting everything up. Nice job! :D

I have heard shit about like my friends Half Life still working with XP, but alas MINE DOESN't and this isn't a pirated copy, its the real copy I borrowed and also it doens't work on my others friends computer

so it seems it works on some and not on others

I sure hope it doesn't screw with mine, or any other games for that matter. Hmmm I hope my monitor still gets support...Need to look for XP drivers.....

Star85 08-08-2002 07:08 PM

I didnt have any problems with my games yet.

Miscguy 08-08-2002 07:14 PM

Never had a problem

check your games, they should say what OS they run on, i got some windows 95 games :o some run on xp, half life runs perfect on xp, well for me at least. All games since like 2 years ago and beyond support xp no matter what. some older games that only say they run on windows 98 run on xp, might be glitchy but they run, some dont. just experiment with your old games. overall youll come to like xp etter than win95 or 98. more stable and easy.
just dont get windows xp 64 bit. hey that reminds me new detonator drivers are here :D

The only game i cant get to work used DOS commands to install and run. Everything else from way back when runs fine.

Chickengood4u 08-08-2002 07:36 PM

if you have the latest patch then you'll be fine

[WaffenSS]Cethin 08-08-2002 08:32 PM

Win XP Pro, no problems

SW-14 08-08-2002 08:45 PM

I've had absolutely no problems with it. Just use Windows Update and you should be fine.

rudedog 08-08-2002 08:50 PM

Running windowXP pro without any problems

Make sure you update your video drivers after you install the OS. You will get the openGL error if you don't

I would recommend a clean install if you have everything backed up.
Upgrading will only cause problems down the road

Good Luck

Well, I did reformat before I did this. I'm now going to be slumbering into the morning hour with all my games. Also need to find XP drivers for my sound card, currently can't use the EAX settings and all that from the desktop. Well, thanks for the input. Considerring Half-Life is the oldest game I have, it should be alright. Hmm..I also remember some threads with stuff to customizing the desktop and all that with some REALLY cool art designs, and stuff. Could someone maybe supply a link? Thanks. :D
