Do you have to play through the service provided and pay?
Do you have to play through Gamespy and pay or is there a free service out there or wat???

There is no monthly charge to play MOH. If you want to use GameSpy without the ads then you can register the program by paying for it. Or you can upgrade your version of MOH to V1.11. this has a built in Game spy browser.
