Buying a new Vid Card, but which one?

Hey all, this was probably asked many times but the forum is missing posts, so here we go again. I'm in the market for a new card, my TNT RIVA is just not cutting it anymore. :o Well with the money situation, i've decided on the Geforce 4 Ti 4200. But which brand name:

Soltek
MSI
Asus
GAINward

They all charge different pricess, not sure which is the better bang for my buck :o Does the most expensive mean it's the best one or............

well, im no expert on these things, but i hear asus is very reliable. i personally have a gainward, i have no problems with it and it runs moh fine.

Don't get MSI. My Gf2 is MSI, and it's not good. It's not up to speed with other company's cards. Gainward and Asus are probably the best.

I don't own a Geforce (I'm an ATI boy :) ), but when I did upgrade my card I checked out alot of reviews and asked on a number of boards and the general thought appears to be that ASUS and Gainward make the best cards using the Geforce chips.

Is there anywhere on my computer I can check what mine is

My card came with my computer as an upgrade I payed extra for

So in there anywhere in my computer which is tell me what one of these
Soltek
MSI
Asus
GAINward
made it?

Check the gfx card itself, most companies usually have their name on it somewhere.

Slinky2397 08-12-2002 02:02 PM

Hmm... I knew there was a way to check it...Somewhere.

Seriously, MSI? I had a pain in the ass getting mine to work. The stupid driver CD kept crashing my system. Then, finally, yeek. It was bad.

Thanks guys for your imput, yeah I was looking at ATI, but they don't come close to Nvidia, and I know the 9700 is coming soon, but man, I just don't have the money for that, 2-3 hundred is the most I can afford (CDN). So I guess I have to really decide either ASUS or MSI I guess, I got one of my buddies who get's distrubator prices checking out the best deal he can get. So far I found a MSI for $289 (CDN) but always looking for a better deal...lol

There are cheaper ATI cards out there and yes, they do outperform Geforces in certain areas (and vv). They are also alot more brighter.
