Taking the kids to the gun range to shoot

As many of you know, I have little collection of firearms and like to practice gun safety with my family.

Well we had a Federal Holiday here in Rhode Island on Monday. So I took my children to the gun range. We are the only state to still honor this WWII holiday in the USA. Many people do not think it's politically correct to honor this day and I believe they have changed the name but I can not remember what they changed it to.

Oh well back to my post, I took the kids out to the range today for their second time at actually shooting the firearms with live ammo.

The first couple of times was to practice range and gun safety. They have since moved up to do some shooting.

This first picture is of my youngest daughter, firing the Henry youth .22. This is a lever action short barrel rifle. This is a very good starter gun.
She's still working on her stance. But that will come with practice.

This one you should all enjoy, This is my older daughter shooting my favorite firearm, My Thompson.

Well, do any of the other members belong to a gun range and take the family?

Oh, and why do I take my kids to the gun range. They will be dating in about 7-8 years. so it's better to prepare them now :D

The real reason. To teach them how to safly handle a firearm.

Hehe, you will need to practice... A firearm will come in handy when you have to fight back the teenage boys chasing your daughters. :D I have been to a firing range and hunting a couple times, pretty fun once you get the hang of it.

Yeah, I went with my father in about grade 6. That was a lot of fun. We haven't been in 10 or more years. There are so many restriction on guns now that its a real pain to go out.

my grampa taught me to shoot when i was 5 now i have to be a better shot than him it was a great experience a grampa and his grandson shooting a firearm the pungent smell of gun powder can you say male bonding?

Sorry to hear that Ninty9. I know Canada has some strict gun laws. You can own a shotgun can't you? They can be very fun to shoot.

I have only skeet shot once. And I had a very good time. Very fun, but my shoulder felt like it was going to fall off.

I showed both my daughters how well I can shoot. So they can pass that along to these so called boyfriends, when there old enough.

I am very anti gun, but I have a nephew who is in the NRA. He owns a an semi-automatic AK-47 and several rifles, and pistos. Even though I personally will not allow firearms in my house, I am letting my nephew teach my daughters gun safety. You never know.

No he's uses a small caliber pistol and rifle with them.
But he did pull out the AK when the first my kids went out with him and fired a clip off. It got my kid attention, they hung on every word he said, and followed his instructions to a T.

He wishes he could have it fully automatic, but he likes to be legal. I won't even get into what I think should be legal or illegal in firearms. But I still think it's important that my daughters understand the dangers involved, and how to handle a gun. Unfortantly we live in a society where to many people have guns that should'nt have them......I'll stop now before I start ranting...

I go shooting with my dad every once in a while. I hunted twice but got bored of it. I still like to shoot though.
