X-Box, gamecube PS2

I know, I know, we've seen these a million times before, but recently i (legally) found the money to afford one of these.
So which one should it be.
Im looking forward to the game Prisoner of War, and i know its out for PS2 and X box, but the gamecube is quite cheap in comparison, so help guys.

ohh, and i havnt put in afrodj13, cos i really want a proper vote count on this

Go with the Xbox, some great games coming out for it in the near future. Great DVD playback, 5.1 surround sound capable, all round good buy. PS2 has more games, but just remember, it's been out for a crapload longer so give that some thought. And the graphics on the Xbox are much crisper and colourful than the PS2.

Gamecube ?? Well, I play around with the one at work, brought one home for a night tried it out. Rogue Leader was great, Resident Evil 0 looks awesome, but that system really is more catered toward kids, all I see on the shelves are kids games, not very encouraging.

I own both a PS2 and Xbox. Xbox beats it hands down, give it a few more months and some sweet games will be popping up for it.

You should have a look at the games coming out on the systems before making a decision. I have a cube and an xbox with 5 or so games for each and i still play the pc more. :o

Resident evil on the cube really is a masterpiece though. the lightning effects causing shadows off every surface really looks realistic.

Yeah, I play the PC more aswell :) Ever since I got ADSL and a Geforce 4, my consoles are collecting dust, when the good games start rolling out, they will get some more use though :).

Get PS2 but really consoles are a waste of time until online stuff comes out.

Don't get XBox just cuzza Halo because it's comin out for computer soon.

I wouldn't call next summer soon, its almost a year away. :o

Yeah i know halo is comming out, but my pc is aged and the pIII 450 just cant keep up, i sence a lag fest should i try run Halo. IL2 is like a slide show even on the lowest settings. I dont play online much as i have a 56k, and the pc is downstairs. with a console i can lie in bed when the missus isnt over and play games to my hearts content all night.
The x box is tempting but its still costly.
im not going to upgrade my pc, cos im moving into my own flat next year and may as well wait for a bargain powerful pc. probably have reached 3ghz ones by then

I was going to buy a console, but I think I have better things to spend my money on. If I had to pick I would go with XBox.

It all depends what you want the console for. Very briefly (I may elaborate later):

X-Box: For Hardcore gamer or guys with out decent PC. Most powerful, but that doesn't mean good games. However, there does seem to be some quality stuff coming out

PS2: Big library, but mainly single-player

GC: Great multiplayer (with mates, not online, of course) which is even appealing to the women which means more people to play with, novel games, Nintendo titles, portable (easy to take round a friends), cheap.

If you're not planning on playing it 24/7 but are looking for something you can switch on every now and then or when you get back from the pub with mates, I really suggest the GC. If you are a big gamer and plan to use it alot and have the money to buy the games (don't forget, a large library doesn't mean much if you don't plan on owning shit loads of titles) then go for the X-Box. I'd stay clear of the PS2, not that it is shite.

I own a GC, just so you know where I stand.

I own a PS2 and am going to get a Gamecube

IMO opinion by when Zelda comes out for GC it would probably almost add up to the same number of GC game si want as the PS2 games I own

But hey I love Mario, Starfox, Metriod and Zelda and Resident Evil, so basically thats what to look forard too there

Xbox is not my place to say on, Wookie seems to know it alot, and he works at EB and recommends it so it has to be good in some way

anyway, Rpgs and single player type stuff is PS2, Gamecube is adventure, multiplayer stuff like that

2D RPGS, I miss those days......GBA is reliving it for me some at least

SoLiDUS 08-15-2002 02:18 AM

Gamecube ! : - )

Lots of neat games are coming out man...

Metroid
Zelda
Mario
Resident Evil 4
Eternal Darkness (gr8 game)
Soul Calibur 2

etc...

I bought one and trust me, I don't regret the purchase.

Has anyone seen the Japanese advert for the GC yet? I can't remember the link but do try and find it. It has refuelled my faith in going for the Cube. Zelda looks fantastic and Final Fantasy also looks like exciting.

filmguy15 08-15-2002 08:26 AM

Here is the way i see it. X-Box-great power but the games suck. PS2-least powerful but a huge library of great games. GC-middle power, a ton of really quality games (can't wait for the internet adapter :)) so it all boils down to what ya like to play. I own a GC and i am very happy with it!

08-15-2002 08:28 AM

neither, go for a hooker!

CeltFury 08-15-2002 08:39 AM

I have a PS2 and a GameCube

I'm happy with both however I would like a X-Box. :-?
