Windows Themes...
 

I used to use them all the time but a friend said that they can rally bog down your computer so i stopped using it.

I have a 1.8 P4, 1024megs RAM, Windows XP home. Would a theme slow me down much???

I don't know if they would slow you down, but some of them are just plain annoying. Last night I came downstairs thinking someone was in my house, but it was my computer theme-The Golden Era, the screensaver is the like an audio of someone talking on the phone.

i'm talking more about window Skins...like custom start menu, windows and such.

Well, the ones I got don't seem to do that. If you're looking for a site, http://www.themexp.org is good. You need to download another program too. Even if it does slow down, it wouldn't do much harm to your computer with those specs.

This site says that some XP Themes can slow down your computer and your internet connection.

I disabled all graphics...much better for stuff for me cuz my computer sucks!

i use object desktop and i use to use tgt softs program for skins. i find it does nothing to ur fps at all and believe me im nothing special with a gforce 2 mx p4 256 ram
