Mouse Help (Extra Buttons)

I know this has been asked 10000x before but I have an M$ Intellimouse Explorer and I am wondering how you can bind lean left and lean right to the 2 side buttons.

Thx. RH =[POAAC]=

Main > Options > Controls

select the current key for each and press the mouse button that you want to use to set the new one.

Now can you tell me if you ever get a windows cursor appear on-screen during a game when using that mouse and using the extra buttons on it?

Most people tell me this is some other program running but I run no other programs and even have all but barebone Win2K services disabled for performance. Only way Ive been able to stop it is not use the scoll or side mouse buttons and kill the point32.exe that runs for the mouse by default.

Just to clarify, I dont want to do that stupid lean strafe combo. Thats useless. I have two extra buttons on the side of the mouse and I want to make one lean left and one lean right.

(EDIT: Thx Remix I didnt see your post when i posted this message.)

If you want MOHHA to recognise the 2 side buttons on a Microsoft explorer download the latest Microsoft drivers / software which enables you to turn on program specific recognition in the advanced settings. All you do is browse your computer for the Mohaa .exe and voila. Now the game itself will recognise all buttons on any microsoft mouse. The standard windows mouse drivers do not enable these buttons by default !.

Thats wierd, because I have already tried assigning buttons to moh:aa using that cartman. It didnt work... my drivers must be messed...

Make sure you try the official Microsoft mouse driver software from [url:844a1]http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/download.asp[/url:844a1]. It means you have to leave the annoying desktop icon running in your system tray for it to work, but for me its worth it, I use mouse 3 for pistol and mouse 4 for grenade, makes switching that fraction faster and the program running in the background doesnt seem to have any adverse affects while playing the game. DO NOT exit the mouse program prior to playing the game or the additional button functionality wont work

hmmm got me an updated MS mouse program and i can select MoH in the program specific settings screen but it doesnt have selections for the game functions.... only windows stuff.

anyway i think i can get away with assigning my #3/#4 buttons to stuff like backspace and putting these keys down as alternatives in the game config screen.

From DogMeat's guide

[quote:1f94e]DogMeat's 5+ Button Mouse Guide
QuickList:
1) Install/Update your Mouse Drivers/Software (if needed)

2) Use your Mouse Software to assign MoHAA specific keys to your Side Buttons

3) Tell MoHAA to use those keyboard keys for whatever function you wish.

Overview:
Although MoHAA does not directly support the extra buttons on the 5+ button mice, these mice do allow assigning the buttons to keyboard keys. If your using the Microsoft Intellipoint software you can assign program specific settings to those buttons. Note: this should work for Logitech mouse software, I'm sure they have something compatible.

Instructions:
Double click the Mouse icon in your system tray or go to Control Panel -> Mouse

The first tab is Buttons, if it is unchecked, click the check box next to "Enable program-specific button settings".

Now click on the "Settings" button immediately to the right.

In the new menu, click the "Add" button.

Now we must tell it what program to treat special. Navigate to your MOHAA folder and select the file MOHAA.EXE and click "Open"

Now it returns to the previous menu with "Medal of Honor Allied Assault(tm)" listed in the programs window.

Customize your buttons, most notably the Left Side Button and Right Side Button. I set mine to "Keystroke" and selected "Z" for left and "C" for right.

Save all your changes and exit the mouse software.

Now load MoHAA and make any keyboard changes you need. For example I set DM Lean Left to "Z" and DM Lean Right to "C". Now to lean I just squeeze the appropriate side of the mouse.

Usage:
This guide may be used on any website as long as my name and website remain on it.

yeah thanks for the help guys.... i got it going.
have got my 2 side buttons set to BackSpace and DEL in the MS program specifically for MoH and in the MoH key config BKSP and DEL are set to what i want the mouse buttons to do.

only thing that was stuffed was the mouse itslef had old drivers and i had to update the driver before installing the MS config program in that order for everything to work.

the friggin thing still dies after 10mins if i run it as USB but bah.... get me a new system with some DDR soon and forget about me shitb0x problems. run it as ps/2 till then.
