Server Help
Before you start a Dedicated Server make sure you don't have a Firewall or Proxy or anything like that. Your server won't show up if you have any protection sort of thing. Generally Dedicated Servers will be laggy (even with DSL or Cable - T1 or T3 or super fast stuff like that will work fine) unless you add settings which I'm not real fond of.
Okay... what you could do is go here ([url:8bc37]http://www.filefront.com/?filepath=/alliedassault/MoH%20ded%20server%20launcher.zip[/url:8bc37]) and get that file... it's a pretty good Dedicated Server Launcher. Or if you want to do it the regular way you can go to "Start Game" then type in all the junk you want. Make sure you click the box near Dedicated Use Gamespy if you want, this will show your server on Gamespy Select Map - what map your server will start out on Map Rotation - which maps will be on your server (go into Select Map to see what you need to type in) Game Server Name - name of the server of course Max Players - maximum amount of people you want in your server Team Win Limit - how many times a team must win or for FFA's how many kills you need to get before the map changes Map Rotation Time - how many seconds or minutes (depending on game type) before you change maps Check the Team Damage box if you want your team mates to be able to kill you (more realistic but you get team killers) Inactive Spectate - how long it will take for you to be kicked to Spectator if you don't do anything (in seconds) Inactive Kick - if you don't say anything while in Spectator mode you will be kicked out of the server (in seconds) Once you start the server the regular way the game will exit and a console will pop up... wait till that thing gets done with and minimize it. Start the game up and the server should be up. If you are running a custom map and someone else joins without they will be kicked. If you are really serious about making a long running server then there are companies that offer low-ping servers. The only one I've seen is this one ([url:8bc37]http://www.artofwarcentral.com[/url:8bc37]). These can get expensive but they work good. Hope I helped... swordfight: = oOo: |
