Does the time come through DSL or cable?

If the time comes through DSL or cable at the pulse of every second, can I stop this from getting to my computer?? I think it is affecting my fps even in single player.

The time comes from your motherboard unless you are using some software to update the time from some remote source.

If thats the case couldnt he just stop whatever background process is asking for the update?
