IS there a way for the FPS to show more then 62?
Yesterday my fps read more then 62 today it just stays right on 62 and wont even go over. Is there a way to make it go over 62 besides buying a new card and comp? I have the latest drivers and all!

I thought it was capped at 95 unless you messed around with something in the console.
|
yeah I think it is capped at 95, I messed with the settings and I get fps of 125 most of the time
|
What settings did you mess with to give you that reading?
|
Hey Von, I think the command in the console is: seta com_maxfps #
# = whatever number you want it to goto, not over 180 though. ex. seta com_maxfps 120 It's been awhile since I played with that, I hardly get FPS under 100 on any map. cya Ant swordfight: cool: |
I used just
com_maxfps 250 I've heard anything over a setting of 500 will cause chugging or lag but i havnt played with it. Runs smooth as glass. Funny thing is that my FPS will go over 250. Everynow and again i'll be in a room and it'll jump to about 300 just under. |
You should not set the max framerate to a number over 250. The reason is that it can cause minor slowdown in the game/system. Besides, I don't think it's possible to get over 250 even with todays computers, anyways.

I'll try to get a screen of mine going to 300 with com_maxfps set to 250. |
Does this really stop lag?
|
Probably not. All it does is let your computer render more frames and make the game look smoother. If your computer only renders 20 FPS upping your max FPS wont do anything. It also wont fix any kind of net lag.
But upping your max FPS to high may over tax your system and cause it to slow down and "lag" just as if it were rendering to few frames. |
Not like it really matters going from 95 to 200 though....you can't see any difference.
|
No, it dosen't stop lag. The most I've gotten was 230 in Algiers, and 125 while moving around. But it has nothing to do with the lag, sorry.

Hey Von
Try this....
Do CTRL+ALT+DEL This will bring up windows task manager Then click on the "Processes" tab Click on "User Name" this will show you who is using the running files (for reference) Many of the things that are runing YOU DONT NEED Software will install shit you dont need and that will make your 'puter crawl Go to this site and search for each item listed: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm Anything you find in here that is listed as "Not Needed" shut it off in the task manager If you cant find any of them on this page go to http://www.monstercrawler.com and search for the exact syntax shown in task manager Once you have disabled all the useless shit - give your computer a whirl and see how much faster it is Dont worry - shutting things down in the Task Manager does not delete anything from your computer. The next time you reboot all those things will be running again If this does not help, you may have a BAD HARD DRIVE or some major corruption in windows Ram can also go bad and cause this problem There is a windows XP utility that scans your hardware to search for problems like hard drive failures and ram memory failures - I would have to look it up |
