Changing Objective Maps to be Respawn
I play MOHAA with a group of about 10 players and we love objective based maps. I've recently discovered a number of them that would be excellent if they were respawn instead of "once you're dead, you're dead" maps.
If anyone can help me with changing an existing map into respawning, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm mostly a player and not into the programming and scripting so hopefully I can understand how to fix it anyway. Thank you much. - Grimm |
in the maps .scr file
change respawn from 0 to 1 |
quack
Changing the 0 to 1 seems to work for some maps, but not all of them. Some will allow you to spawn one more time, other times not at all. So what do you think could be causing this? Do client side maps need to be changed also? With the changes to these maps scripts I only edited the servers. All players were able to join the server after the map started so who knows....any suggestions? oOo:

Thanks for the replies, but I'm still in need of a little more guidance. How do I access the .scr file? The maps I have are .pk3's. Do I need a certain tool to change the respawn? Thanks again.

.scr files are server sided! So an admin can change some variables, including the respawn option.
If you wanna edit the .scr file do the following: open the .pk3 with pakscape tool and open the maps folder. There you´ll find the .scr file for the map (not the map_precache.scr). Open it with Ultra Edit tool (I use C++ though) and change this line: level.dmrespawning = 1 // 1 or 0 Hope this helps! Crizz |
Thank you to everyone who posted here. I'll be trying these solutions out soon and I really appreciate the direction.
