Great maps, but they're unplayable
I'm glad there are some cool looking maps out there but the ones we have on the aa.com server are just unplayable.
I have a pretty good gfx card (128mb GeF3 200ti O/Ced to ti500 speeds) and I get terrible FPS in St. Paul and Route d'nord. I really don't think that these maps are worth playing. What does everyone else think? |
I agree. My computer balks at most of the new maps. My FPS dips down to single digits in some places. It's sad, really because the maps are very well done. They're just resource pigs.

I like the Route d'nord map, it looks great and it's fun to play, but I only get about 30 or so FPS. The St. Paul map is ugly, it plays badly, and I only get about 20 max FPS. I say keep the the Route d'Nord map ditch St. Paul.

Gfx card isn't everything when it comes to FPS. You can have the best gfx card in the world but it won't make a difference if your CPU is poor.
As for the maps, I haven't played most of them. Do you get bad performance on mine? |
Great.....
Heck no, Ydiss, your maps have been a blast to play. I know alot of the regs at aa.com feel the same way. Keep up the great work and keep me posted of up coming projects. Nice one, doc-

'Downtown' its worst map on the aa.com server. It looks great but I only get 5 (fire fights) to 19 (just walking around) FPS. I was playing with Judas and he even said it was horrible.

My system does fine on the new maps (xp 2100)
The only time i have problems is when i get on a 32 player free for all, then it gets choppy. I am running a GF2 ultra 64mb and have 1 gig of ram. |

Agree. Downtown also is an FPS killer.
No YDISS, no probs with your map for me. I know, there are many factors that affect FPS, but generally, these maps are bad for anyone. I have an adequate setup - XP Pro, 1.33 tbird, 640mb PC133, 7200 rpm drives, and the 128 mb vid card. If anyone pulls the trigger near me with a machine gun in those 3 maps, FPS drops. I've seen it as low as 11 on Route dNord. |
Route is fine for me. I get about 20-30 which is playable. I dont remember St Paul so I cant say how it was.

FUBAR
FUBAR absolutely raped my CPU -- and I couldn't see anything unless it was pitch dark outside. I don't miss it.
The only new map I've played is Route D'Nord, and that seems to work well. As for Crossfire, that is the smoothest custom map I've ever played. I enjoy smashing out each pane of glass, too. |
I have a 1.8GHz Pent.4, a GeForce 4, and a gig of ram, and I am still dipping into the teens on St. Paul. I am sure it must be completely unplayable for most people.

That's the problem with MOH: It's a system hog. Any other game dosen't require as much power as this one does. Just look at Jedi Outcast; great graphics, and you don't even need a P4 for it to run smoothly.

I took 3 screenshots in Downtown. All standing in the same spot but facing different directions.
