Admin Questions
Hello,
I just started me a server and I was just wondering about any good tweaks. I also was wondering how I can keep my server fun for everyone. Such as any secruity settings to keep people from cheating or anything else. I am having trouble with autokick, is it suppose to be on the server or your client. I'm not seeing my announcements. I know thats not alot to go on, but I'm still learning and just wanted any info to make my server more player friendly. I've been reading the other post, and I love this site thnx RudeDog and everyone else for the great info. Thnx cROW KING FOR AutoKick it rocks. |
well you've already got one of the best things around, autokick. you also might want to download dogmeat's map fix. I believe he's currently working on a new version that will include all the current glitch fixes and more, as well as include Dogtagz (another tool he's developing).

Thnx for your help!
Another question..I know about force Models, but can people get into your server and add mods or anything like Realism ect.? And if they can what should I look for? Thnx in advance! |
There is a Readme file with Autokick that will explain all of the settings, basicly with announcements you will have to create your announcement, how often it runs and save your settings.
The Full version of mohaa doesnt have the cheat problem like the demo version does, there are no settings to set at the server for cheats. Players cannot add mods to your server. Whatever mods run in the game are only the ones installed on the server, ie Realism mod. If a client runs a mod, only he can see it. The biggest thing to watch is your bandwidth. Make sure your server connection's upload speed is capable of supporting the # of players you set. Heres the formula: (# players)x(max_rate)<(srver conn upload speed/8). You can test your upload speed at Bandwidthplace.com and then adjust your max_rate settings in your server.cfg file until you get smooth game play with the correct # of players. I started mine at 3000 and moved up; 6000 makes the server chug 7000 removes most lag 8000 is smooth 9000 - 25,000 no increase in player speed at all Good luck. |
Has anyone tried using SCSI HD, and seen much of a preformance boost.
Plus, What is the command to view your frame rate in the game. I saw it on another post, but I can't seem to find it again. Thnx in advance...... |
command to show fps
fps 1

RE: SCSI HD
As for SCSI HD's...you won't see any performance increase at all within multiplayer gameplay....but it will load faster..thats about it!
The map is fully loaded during the loading screen, and doesn't look for anything further on the hard drive until it's time for the next map! Also..it's a good thing to know how to turn off the fps .. fps 0 |
Well, maybe you can notice the use of a SCSI HD if you're running stats on your server (every console info is logged to a file, and sometimes there's a lot of junk being dumped)... I must say since we started running stats on our server some people has complained that they have occasional mini-lags, no other settings being modified.

What is good to use for a firewall? I've been trying to use zonealarm, but to get my server to come up correctly I have to make the setting to low to do any good.
Any suggestions would be great.. Thanks in advance!! |
