Norton Internet Security
Does a program like NIS slow down my connection to a server? Should I disable this before playing, or would the difference be insignificant?
Muchas Gracias |
I would disable it. I believe it has personal firewall built in, so I would turn it off while playing.
|
would disabling it expose you to "internet attacks" by a player hacking through moh mp? can a virus be transmitted through a server? or rather, can a virus be made to be transmitted through a game server?
|
i don't see how either would be possible

what you want to do is give MoH full access to internet reaffic of all types rather than disable your firewall. this gets you want you want for the program that doesnt have this functionality while still restricting those on your system that do. r3mix |
Internet Security Pro is a package of a) Antivirus, b) personal firewall, and c) ad/script blocking. If you disable b & c, no big deal. The antivirus proggies usually have to be disabled before playing any game, the auto-protects generally slow down gameplay. As for leaving yourself open for viruses, highly unlikely, unless someone has your PC IP & Port #. Even with those, it's still hard to hack your system without some sort of tool to ping your IP correctly.

Well, I leave Norton's Anti-virus and Internet Security on all the time, and I don't notice any difference.

Same here. I usually disable "Auto-Protect" before playing MOH but if I forget Ive never noticed a difference. |
I run MOH with NIS on, that includes the firewall and the antivirus on, and I have no problems playing.
