ATi 9000 PRO vs. GeForce4 Ti4200

These both seem to be in the same price bracket. Both have 128mb DDR Ram. I can find them for about $130-$140. I've had my Geforce2 Ti for almost a year now. I'm very happy with it, but I need to step up a bit to run some new games. The plan is to buy a medium vid card now and then build new PC in about 6 months. I just need something that'll work between now and then. Should I even bother upgrading? When I build the new box, I plan on putting top of the line card in (Radeon 9700 now). I don't think I'll need the best card on earth for the time being, just something to get me by. So the overall question... Which card is better? Should I bother upgrading?

Of the two, the gf4200 is the better card, I think. The 9000 does support dierectx9.0 but there most likely wont be any/many games that use it before you uprgrade again. I am riding my GF2ti until Doom 3 comes out in a few months.
