Graphics help
I have an ATI Radeon 7000 64Mb PCI video card. My system is a P 1.3 Ghz celeron with 256 Mb ram. I figured this would be sufficinet enough tp play MOHAA, but I find I have to turn the color setting to 16 bit and most other settings to medium to get descent gameplay, and thats just in MP (SP is worse!). I'm wondering if there's anything i'm missing to get better performance. Is it because the card is PCI? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Use the built in auto configure, it should set everything to run best possible with your setup.

Wow, I'm surprised you take such a hit on performance. All I have is an Athlon 750,.... 324 Megs sdram....GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 megs DDR and with everything MAXXED out (1024x768) I can run 30 FPS steady on most outdoor maps and up to 80 FPS in V2 map. Omaha takes me down to the mid teens however until I get inside.

It could be your PCI card. No AGP on your motherboard? It could also be your ram.
What OS are you running? Try and shut everything down in the background. Good Luck |
Thanks for the replies! I'm running Win XP. I try to shut as many background programs off as possible, but there are so many running in XP. And were do i find the auto configure?

Thats all? I have a GeForce2 MX400 running on 800x600 with everything turned up to max I get 70-120 FPS. I know your running on a higher res... but I payed like $200 less than you for almost the same performance... |
That's what make me believe it's a software issue.
also try checking your IRQs. Make sure your Graphics / nic / sound card are not sharing any of the same resources. |
Cleamon, to get to the Auto-configure, got to: Start, All Programs, EaGAmes, MOH, and it will be there at the top of that section.

A factor in the price I payed was also built in DVI-I/VGA support for 2 monitors PLUS a TV simultaneously. It also has video capture although I still make my movies on my ATI card. When I qouted those FPS those were the lowest FPS. (which is still smooth) What I mean is on the HUNT for example 45 FPS is avg but it wont go below 30 FPS or so. It blows away my old voodoo3 2000 that's for sure! Which is what I started playing mohaa on. |
My computer in my room is a P3 1.1 GHz. My one at house is a P4 1.8 GHz. I get about the same FPS on both of them. As you see I don't have anything special...
Heh maybe PNY messed up and sent me something better. Even though it says GeForce2 when I boot up.... |
I have a P3 933mhz with a Radeon 7000 64mb. And I can tell you this now, no matter what settings you use, the game wont run real good. And I bet your getting the jumpy screen correct? Where it looks like alot of texture lag and your screen seems to be jumping? And everyone is like skipping just a little bit? Not much but still....Well the card sucks big time, and now i wish I didnt get it. I recommend a new card (Im getting one soon lol). Seeing the Radeon 7000 is the only class of Radeon family that did not come with hardware T&L (Transform and lighting) that causes alot of texture lag.

Sorry for such a big-assed pic... but it proves the res I can run at on a piece of crap 750 mhz. Thank yyou Nvidia!

I'd be trading a few frames for 800x600 if I were in your shoes. |
