I need some help with my server

I am hosting a server, and i have been for quite some time with BF1942..and am tryin out a MOHAA server now and both work fine. the probelm im havin is that every 5 minutes, it times everone out.. The same thing happened with BF, cause every other map it would disconnect everyone. I have a strong feeling its my bandwith limit, but i dont know how to mess around with it. I used bulls guide, and everything that is there is what i have..just need to know how to tweak this thingy.

Any help would be appreciated...BTW see for yourself @ 64.195.90.65:12203 and see about the timed out thing!

Thanks guys!! eek:

What is your upload connection speed.
regular cable with a cap of 320K should be able to handle 4 - 6 clients only.

Post your server's cfg file Will, and let us take a peek at it.

So I take it from your reply to RudeDog that you ARE on DSL????
If thats the case I think you need to be sure you are testing UPLOAD speed and not download , they are 2 different tests! Even if you are getting that type of speed it is not guaranteed. ISPs oversubscribe their products all the time and at any given moment the bottom can drop out of your bandwidth!
I sometimes run a small server off my cable at home to test new maps and I get exactly what you describe ALL the time. I then go check my upload speed and sure enuf its < 100kbps. Must have dozens of people suddenly downloading their porn all at the same time..lol.
Heres a great test program to test your Upload speed: http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/fut.html
Like Rude said, you are only gonna get about 6 players max on cable/dsl. Set the maxpings in your config to about 150 and your maxrate down to about 6500 and that will help a bit.

Yea, that is pretty good but just remember if you check with your ISP you are only GUARANTEED a certain amount of bandwidth. As with any connection your bandwidth is shared (yes DSL owners, just like cable, dont believe the ads) so at any moment you can lose that 896kbps and drop to a normal 100kbps. I would go and check your upload speed when the problems start occuring, maybe have a network with 2 machines setup so you can jump on the other and check it right away. Dont just do one test, keep doing it over a few minutes to see what happens. Also might want to use Tracert to see if theres problems between you and your ISP or between you and other players that are having troubles.
Another thing you can do is if you are running a ded server and on Win2k/XP is use the Performance tab on Task Mgr to watch your machines performance and be sure theres nothing internal causing a prob. Good Luck!
