Router IP??
I have just installe a router, and now i wnt to host a game for me and a few mates. I want to be able to tell them the IP so they can just go into the multiplayer screen and join via the IP. How do i get the IP? And does there have to be particular ports open??

Your router should have software so you can check for the IP. I have a Linksys Router and I can check my ip by going to my gateway which is 192.168.1.1. What kind of router is it?

you will need to forward port 12203 to the box running MOH. other then that if you just want to give your friends your External IP then you do not need to open more ports.
Like rodimusJon said, you need to point your web browser at your router . You can then check the status of the router and get your external IP address to give your friends Good Luck |
What is a good firewall for a server?
fire2: M16: |
I would say zone alarm or black ice defender.
It really depends on how much protection you really want. Firewall software can be good but a pain in the butt. If you have a router and only forward one or two ports then don't worry about firewall software. just get your self some good anti virus protection. Check out http://grc.com/default.htm He can over react sometimes but is well worth the look. He recommends zone alarm over black ice |
Thanks RudeDog,
I didn't know about forwarding the ports. I was using the DMZ feature. Ok I know about the port that moh uses 12203, But what port does gamespy or any other programs. I looked and just forwarding 12203, you can't see it out on the net? Thanks |
Killer man I found it on another post.
Ports 12203 and 12300.. thnx |
can someone explain to me EXACTly how I use a browser to check my router settings.

Using a browser to check our router settings only works, if your router supports this features ( 99.9% of them do )
you need to know your routers IP address. This is the same address as your gateway setting. You can find your gateway setting by the following command winXP,winNT,win2K in a dos window, type: [code:19421]ipconfig[/code:19421] win9x [code:19421]winipcfg[/code:19421] You will need to know the username and IP username is most likely "admin" or "administrator" your password is blank if you never set it. The router should be setup with 2 IP addresses. LAN or private address, that includes any computers behind it WAN or public address, this is what the Internet see's. This is the address you give your friends when they connect to your server behind the router. Hope this helps |
