I managed to solve the problem, there seems to be a conflict when the game trys to connect to the internet so I checked the Never dial-up in my internet connections and the demo runs ok

I have installed the SP demo but when the game loads I am unable to use the mouse. If I hit Esc and go back to the setup screen I am still unable to get the mouse to work and the only way I can exit...
