I'm sure its got something to do with pre-orders. I'm sure when it's launched in North America this fall you should be able to get one at most retail stores with out too much trouble.

Perfomance is only as good as the games that are on the console. I would recommend getting a new gfx card now (for MoH:AA) and getting a PS2 later this fall when the price drops.
