God - More of this shit.
Battlefield and MOH are two different games. Dont compare them. They arent the same in any respect except they are both set in WW2.
That being said, if you have a machine that can handle it, Battlefield is a great game.
Right now, I have a AMD Athlon XP1600, GeForce4 4200 Ti, 640megs of Sdram, and a Broadband connection. The game runs fine for me. Anyone with a system that MAY have run MOH, will not neccesarily run Battlefield, which is where we got alot of the animosity since folks are expecting something along the lines of MOH. You wont get it.
Bottom line for me, if you have a good system, that can handle the frames, the loadtimes, and online play - you will enjoy this game. It is large in scope and very ambitious. I would think it lays somewhere in between MOH and WW2Online as far as gameplay is concerned - the maps are huge, and are not centrated with "physical eye acndy" (that is NOT to say that the game is boring looking, the graphics look great in my honest opinion) - they are very open and you will need to use some form of transport usually to get to the enemy. That is the draw of this game for, me, hopping in a WESPE, laying down some artillery fire - sliding in next to someone in a jeep, rushing to the other side of the map, and engaging in hand to hand with the enemy at their base. Unlike MOH, there are SEVERAL directions where you WILL be attacked by the enemy, so just spawning in a spae will not garuantee you are actually free from enemy fire.
Bottom line, the game is a bitch on system resources taking up nearly 220 megs of available ram, but if you can crank the settings up with your card DEFINATELY got this game.
And yes, the netcode needs work. You can shoot someone and they not go down. Just something they are working on for release in the next patch. Definitely look at some game reviews for this game and some screenshots and vids to see the potential this game has for enjoyment.
Trust me, on a 52-64 man Battle of The Bulge, Berlin, Stalingrad, Market Garden, or Bocage - you will defintely see why there are a good number of people playing this game.
