Yes, controversy surrounds whether or not the MP44 was stollen from the AK47 or vice versa. In any event, the guns do have undeniable similarity. The mechanics and gas system are much better on the AK47. However, I believe the MP44 was first manufactured in 1942? The AK47 was designed and built shortly AFTER WW2. I don't believe Kalahsnikov stole the MP44 design, but I do think some elements were "borrowed".
PS. You're right, I dunno what a Go-229 is. If its got to do with aircraft I surely have no idea. I'm gonna google it now.
