1) Get either a network hub or router, and make sure both PC's have operational NIC cards.

2) Hook up both of the PC to the 1st 2 ports of the hub/router, and have the DSL/Cable connection (if you have one) going to the Uplink port on the hub/router.

3) On both computers, share your hard drives/CD-ROMs, or whatever drives you plan on sharing.

4) Make sure the PC's both have different names, and are on the same Workgroup. (In WinXP, Right click My Computer>Properties>Network Identification>Properties) PC names & Workgroups should be in CAPS.

5) If only 1 PC has WinXP, use the WinXP box first, and once it is setup, create a network service diskette by opening My Network Places. there should be a guide in there. Use that disk on your other system to get the PC's connected.

That should be it.
