I already know that information. I wasn't trying to write a book, though. I know full well Stalin's practices, and they were the same as Hitler's.

A couple of people said he united Germany, and I respoded with my thoughts on that subject.

If we'd been talking about despots of the time, Stalin's name would have come up in my post. However, my response was not on such a broad subject. It concerned Hitler, and how some people falsely believe his unification of Germany did anything good for his country.

And Neo, Hitler did destroy Germany by declaring war. That's the whole point. The fact that he was preparing for war is the whole reason Germany was gutted from the inside by the Nazi party, and Hitler's beliefs in his supremacy over any other ethnic groups. The Nazi party took over every little piece of everyone's lives, and that, my friend, is not unification. That is systematic removal of your rights, thereby removing you from any kind of freedom or involvement in governmental affairs.

Hitler was not a unifying force, he was a destructive force. And, even in the end, he blamed the German people for his military failures. In the end, he condemned all German people to death. He considered them unworthy to live, if they couldn't win the war. Does that sound like a unifying force to you?

Also, they could have easily supported the military they were building. It would have cost a large portion of their national spending, but it could have been done. Germany did not go to total war production until around 1944.

Hitler could have built a large army, navy, and air force, for defense, and stopped there. All countries at the time had such military might, and could afford it. Hitler went overboard, however, because he wanted to destroy France, and invade Russia. He didn't want it for defense, he wanted it for offense.
