The new nades of Spearhead are much more realistic and a much more accurate weapon. Don't want the nade blowing up in your hand? Then don't pull the pin until you're ready to throw it. The advantage of being able to cook your nade is that you can control when and where the nade blows up with a lot more certainty. A cooked grenade is also extremely difficult for your enemy to escape from, if you time it right. It just takes a little getting used to. Basically, the closer an enemy is, the longer you want to cook your nade.
In fact, the unrealistic way nades were used in Allied Assault was a turn off for me. Now that I've had a chance to practice with Spearhead nades, my nade throws almost always blow up right at the enemies feet, before they even know what hit them.
