My friends dad works with two guys who commanded and drove M1A1 abrams tanks in the Gulf War. Now, during operation desert shield, in Saudi Arabia they would drag race the abrams. Now, the released speed is like 40 MPH but these guys said the tank was doing 90 + MPH and i belive em.

id put my money on the Abrams any day
I've heard from tankers that they can indeed exceed 60mph. The tank is, however, governed to about 40mph, to keep the turbine from overheating in combat. It is however against regulations to disable the governor during combat, because if you push it too hard for too long, you'll overheat the turbine and then you'll really be in deep shit.
