Dr deleto makes an excellent observation that all have seemed to ignore. He is thinking the same way i do. neither of us are saying it the definate truth or not, but we keep our options open.
The bible was afterall written by man (or woman, - you never know).
Should we all automatically assume that the bible speaks the truth. Should we then assume that Tolkien was writing about real things, and hobbits really did run around the place?
We wouldnt these days because we are a bit more intellegient and free thinking, but in the olden days, anyone who came up with theory was a very clever person.
i cant remember the guys name, but he came up with the theory that the sun revolves around the earth, and everyone was like ohh well done! a theory! he was of course wrong about that.
But these days, if you come up with a theory, people will say "prove it".
So someone writes this bible, a book of hope, and a guide to life. no tv and very little entertainment 2000 years ago, people would be well impressed by this book. So much so that they center their lives around it, and the rest is history.
Over time, the bible has been rewritten by different people, i think even a king of england wrote the bible too, and beleive have doubted the plausability of the bible that they have chosen to think its BS, like i have. Virgin birth? give me a break.
2003 years ago its possible to have a virgin birth but in the year 2003, noone will beleive realien cloned a baby until they show some evidence.
Times have changed, as argued here, slavery is now considered wrong, where as in its day, it was common thing, just accepted - until someone thought, "hmm this is wrong"
I dont know why or how we are here, and to be honest i would lose more sleep wondering why buses never run on time.
