Skins are client side, and they usually show up irrespective of your computer architecture. Macintosh also use .pk3 files and the shaders are the same for both pc and mac machines. But if you are trying to create your own custom skin using a Macintosh and Stuffit's Dropzip or Zipit that will not work, because these two programs are not winzip compatible.

If, on the other hand, you have downloaded custom skins that are proven to work on the pc mohaa try toggling your texture compression. To test whether they work it is best to force models. That way you will be able to see all players with the custom skins you've chosen.
