Does it really matter who is the minority? We are all human beings, correct? That means we are ALL the majority. Maybe I'm being too simplistic. I get sick to my damned stomach when reputable publications like TIME have cover stories like : THE NEW MINORITY and show white people on the cover or when the Census Bureau publishes all of these racial demographical reports. Why does it matter? Does anyone really care?[/quote:24719]
We shouldn't care. The first step is making everybody equal, no black history month, no affirmative action, no KKK, no NAACP, no confedarate battle flags.
Now I know there's going to be arguments about "no black history month" and "no confedarate battle flags" but there's a point when knowing about the past does more harm than good.[/quote:24719]
There is only one problem with that theory Green, with people that think like you and your family(I know you're dealing with it)equality in the minds of all is still an elusive goal. When we have parents running around referring to blacks as "niggers" and "darkies" as you said you grew up hearing in your household, then the only way to get people to acknowledge the accomplishments of minorities is to set aside observances. Did you see my first post? I wish to God Black Hisotry month was not necessary, let's just have American History Month, but it is still a very needed concept, for now.
