dudes there is something else you can do that will most likely help with lag...

start > run > msconfig

you can probably set it not to parse autoexec.bat or config.sys or startup items. depending on what you need for your mouse, etc. in general, the more you remove, the more speed you get. try with none and see how you like it.

for example, there is a program qttask.exe running in the background of many computers which just sits there parsing all incoming internet data to see if it's quicktime media. this saves a small amount of time loading quicktime when needed (whoopee!) but it hogs resources and slows down all internet traffic. eliminate it and notice your improved ping.
