Yeh, I remember that abandoned friendly as well. Those who instigated that mindless bullshit were not football fans though. They just saw it as an oportunity to cause havoc. It's still mindless bullshit but it's not how England football fans generally behave.

The last time Ireland played in England would have been Euro 2000, I'd have thought and they wouldn't have been booed then.

Hehe, at the moment England fans (the real ones) are more likely to boo our own anthem. We're very self critical, especially when it comes to sport.

The general view that the world hold of English people (not British) is that we're very aloof and very full of ourselves, but that is no more the case than any other nation and we are far more self-deprecating than most other nations.

Put it this way... we celebrated St Patrick's day with the usual gusto last week but when it comes to St George's day we'll hardly lift a pint glass.
