The second point first: I think it's all personal. I haven't been around long
enough to know if everyone consults one another but it's safe to assume no
one does.

If I read you correctly, you basically ask me "Would you remove a seemingly
bad thread right away or give it some time to check whether or not something
valuable comes from it?", correct ? Well, I will wait to see if things work out for
the better: if not, chances are the thread will be locked.
