The server was not running custom maps, not even altered original maps (e.g. DogMeat stuff), I think. I have some foreign .pk3's in my \main folder, they concern the hud, blood and the titlescreen. I have one .pk3 concerning exploding grenades (nicer explosions), but I doubt these mods have anything to do with the flashes. Because I have had them since forever and never encountered this phenomenon.
