If you can take your 3d card out, then do it - i'm assuming you have onboard video or something.

If you have anything else installed in your comp, I'd take that out too. e.g. sound card, PCI cards (lLAN card etc), cd-burner, unattach your modem and anything else thats not vital for the system operating.

Best to just start with your mouse, keyboard and monitor plugged into your comp. With your HDD, CD drive and disk drive plugged in also.

Start your comp with the CD booting first and then boot from your XP cd.
It shouldn't matter if you have a copy of XP or not, just as long as it works. You were using it before, right?

Make sure you are choosing the right options in the setup. Some options you choose may not be compatible with your system.

Format (and partition your HDD if you want) and you're set to go.
