Stop blaming XP - it rocks.

However, I did have the same issues with some versions of the detonator drives (gf2gts).
Here's what I did to solve my problems:
1.) Install the 23.11 reference drivers.
2.) Disable the "Nvida Helper Service".
3.) Goto Display Properties / Settings / Advanced / Troubleshoot and disable (uncheck) the "Enable Write Combing".
