Would perhaps having a smoke nade that not only puffs out its fair share of smoke, but after a certain amount of time blows up in an explosion fitting for an airstrike?

Perhaps make it so the smoke nade ticks like when cooking a grenade, but replace the tick sound with the whistle of incomming artillery.

Just ideas, not sure if any of that would actually work.
