Alot of servers still play custom maps. Try looking up some servers on Gamespy or All-Seeing Eye.

You may also want to check out some popular servers here, such as the AAN.NET (allaboutnothing.net) Spearhead server, Team aM's server, DK666's, or even Crow King's Forlong Hope.
