I have mixed views on The Thin Red Line...
While I adore the films cinematography, score, acting and all-round design... There doesn't seem to be much "emotional core"...
However, saying that...
As an overall film, The Thin Red Line fails... however, sequences, moments from it, far surpass anything seen in any of the Spielberg produced dramas...
If anyone wants any examples I'd be pleased to give them... The entire hill sequence (Hill 412, I think it was) is far more harrowing to me than Saving Private Ryan's opening sequence...
Just an opinion.
The Thin Red Line is a failure, but a hell of an honourable one. 8/10.
